Redirect Your Web Address to Your Free Web Page
As a member of FAR, you automatically receive a Web page, referred to as your Living Network Web page. This feature allows you to take an existing domain name (i.e., www.johndoexample.com) and point it at your Florida Living Network page. When a Web user types the domain name of that Web address into the browser window, your Florida Living Network page will be displayed.
However, your URL will remain in the Internet browser's address line. To take advantage of this tool you will need to have your existing Internet Service Provider (ISP) point to FAR's IP address.
Q: Who needs this feature?
A: If you have a domain name and you do not have your own Web page or Web site.
Q: Who does not need this feature?
A: If you have a domain name and you have your own Web page or Web site other than a Living Network Web page.
To complete this process, follow these steps: - Contact the ISP that hosts your domain name and have them forward your domain name to your Living Network page address. This service is usually called "Web Forwarding" or "Web-Site Forwarding". Your Living Network Page address can be found by following the directions below:
- Click on the My Membership link at the top of the page. This will open the administrative page from which you control your Living Network Web page and other services. A list of options will be displayed on the left, and your Living Network page will appear in the center/right portion of the page.
- Click the Edit Web Redirect button located on the left-hand menu.
- Copy the URL address in bold under step number 1 in the Directions. This is the address to provide to your Web address hosting service.
Please note that it may take your ISP a few days to complete this request.
Once your ISP has confirmed the entry has been made, you can perform a test by typing the Web address into your browser and verifying your Living Network page is displayed. After the above change is made there could be a delay until it is visible on the Web. Your ISP should be able to tell you the length of this potential delay, but it is usually not more than 24 hours.
* Note to Brokers - The above instructions will help you redirect your web address to your personal Web page on The Living Network. To forward your Web address to your company page:
- Click the To Company Profile button located on the left-hand menu,
- Enter your password,
- Click Login. This will open your company administrative page,
- Copy the URL address in bold under step number 1 in the directions. This is the address to provide to your Web address hosting service.
- Please note that it may take your ISP a few days to complete this request.
