Rookie Spotlight
Teamwork and a solution to every problem Kristina Rosen-Hester is a successful Realtor. Her biggest problem, if you can even call it that, is being overloaded with rental clients.
So last year, she turned to her husband, Anthony, for help. In short order, he switched careers and became a Realtor. Now he takes on what he calls “the problems,” which are profitable and part of what makes this team tick.
"My wife takes all the normal listings, the open houses, things like that," he says from his home in Stuart, where they work for United Quest Realty. "I deal with loan restructuring. I talk to condo associations. I go out and find people who need help."
Kristina follows a long line in the business. "Until I got my license in 2001," the Florida native says, "I had no idea my father and my grandmother were brokers. They were always doing other things." She's thankful for the addition of her husband to the family trade. "It's been a year since he started, seems like he's been doing it a lot longer. To date, he's done about 100 rentals, five sales, and three more pending to close."
Anthony's attitude is about priorities. “If I can help I will,” he says. “The smile on someone's face when they say 'I thought this was going to be the end' … I get a good feeling in my heart, and they'll remember me.
"We're trying to help people out. We don't complain about how much work we do. I get calls from people who say their house is going up on auction, and I call the bank and work out a short sale that will let them keep the house.”
Anthony is a Scout Master and a chaplain, and he’s taking the GRI 2 course in May.
"One of these days I'll be a lawyer," he says seriously. "Follow the law, that's your guide. Evaluate what you're doing. Right now it’s a buyers market, so you follow the buyers. It’s also an investors market, so you follow the investors. You deal with the banks and the attorneys about loan restructuring, not the guy who got kicked out.
"There's enough work out there for a lot of Realtors. We’ve got to do something – there's a solution to everything. It's not in me to say no."
